Rich Opposites Attract

When it comes to Presidential politics in 2008, Hillary Clinton and John McCain were not friends. They weren't even close. They were enemies. They trashed each other on nearly every issue and saw eye-to-eye on less. So it should come as no surprise that one of Clinton's wealthiest supporters will announce her endorsement of McCain.
Wait.
Huh?

Super snob Lynn Forester de Rothschild announced she will be endorsing John McCain for President. She was a Hillraiser during Clinton's campaign (meaning she raised more than $100,000 for the candidate) and was a member of the Democratic National Committee's Platform Committee. But when this rich hobknober doesn't get her way, she takes her uber-purse and runs away.

Now for the question that is surely at the forefront of your mind: Why would such a dedicated Democrat and Clintonite suddenly start battling for the evil Republicans? That's simple - she thinks Barack Obama is an elitist. You read that right. Ms. Forester de Rothschild, who is married to a British knight and international banker (Sir Evelyn de Rothschild) and splits her time between homes and businesses in London and New York and has the ovaries to publicize a picture wearing a huge double-strand of pearls, thinks Barack Obama is an elitist.

She cares more about being a sore loser and getting her name in the papers than actually doing what she believes is right for the country. Maybe the only reason she wanted Hillary to win was because she was a woman. Maybe she wanted Hillary to win because it meant she could have a friend in the White House again. Maybe she wanted Hillary to win because she is a huge fan of pant suits. I don't know. But I know this - if she cared anything about this country before her own selfish ego boost, she wouldn't consider McCain for dog catcher, let alone President.

In all fairness, I believe there is at least one similarity between McCain and Forester de Rothschild: I'll bet neither one of them knows how many houses they own.
