Cheney and Gonzales Indicted in Texas

http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/11/19/texas-grand-jury-indicts-cheney-gonzales-2/

After eight years of criminal activity, the shredding of Americans' Constitutional rights, and a general disregard for the future of this nation, a grand jury in Texas has finally done what no others have been able to accomplish: indict Vice President Dick Cheney, along with former Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, and hold them accountable for their crimes. The order currently awaits signature from the presiding judge.

But did this make the top of CNN.com? No. Fox News? Heavens no! Drudge Report? Yes.

Why is this not a huge story? The sitting Vice President and a former Attorney General were just indicted in a prisoner abuse investigation and the national media seems not to care. How can this be? Why do we put up with this? Why is this not circulating on every blog and e-mail chain the nation? Is Obama's meeting with McCain really that interesting?

You know I was as equally furious about the lack of corporate media response as you are.

There seems to be a pervasive attitude that since the indictment would not be signed off as a judicial charge or even if a judge would be brave enough to do so, Bush would pardon the three indicted anyway.

What a bunch of punks these so-called journalists have turned into. They seem more interested in making news themselves instead of reporting it.

Surely, the mere fact of the indictments should be stains on these three. But we, the public, do deserve justice. What a shame on the Fourth Estate for what they've become. The likes of Edward R. Murrow, John Daly, Chet Huntly and David Brinkley would be ashamed for what they would see today.

As for the indictment counts, they're not unimportant at all. The underlying "mistreatment of federal prisoners" was born from the wrongful death of an inmate in a "for profit" privately owned prison being operated for the federal government.

Gonzales was indicted because of his complicity in the mismanagement of the facility.

Cheney was indicted because of his conflict of interest. You see, Shooter holds a financial stake in the prison company which was, shades of Halliburton, and ensured that company received the benefit of the no-bid contract.

Both indictments are further evidence of the pattern of corruption by them and their ilk.

Perhaps someday the International Court of Justice at the Hague will issue their own indictments for some of these criminals. After the bastards make the mistake of traveling abroad, I'll do my happy dance of joy when they're picked up on an Interpol warrant!
